I can provide planning, development and fundraising for arts organisations.

Since 1995 I have worked with more than 30 arts organisations. These have included the Arts Council’s ‘Year of Photography’, Future Everything, the Hallé Orchestra, the Library Theatre, Manchester Art Gallery, Tate Liverpool, Urbis, the Royal Northern College of Music and Salford University. I have secured substantial funding from the ERDF, ACE, The National Lottery, The Paul Hamlyn Foundation, The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, The Leverhulme Trust as well as from local authorities, companies and individuals.

I have written fundraising plans and assessments for capital projects on behalf of Compton Verney, the De Morgan Foundation, the New Performance Venue, Norton Priory and the People’s History Museum. I have provided training audits, staff inductions and away days as well as cultural programmes for conferences, business plans and marketing strategies. As head of corporate fundraising for a major charity, I worked in partnership with 80 companies from Premier League Football clubs to banks and building societies.

From 1975 – 1990 I was the director or exhibitions’ director of five subsidised museums and art galleries.  I curated exhibitions by sculptors such as Tony Cragg, Richard Deacon, Andy Goldsworthy, Antony Gormley, David Nash, Alison Wilding and Bill Woodrow. I commissioned installations by Mona Hatoum, Cornelia Parker and Antonio Muntadas. I organised group exhibitions of painters and photographers and of artists such as Edward Allington, Damien Hirst and Richard Wentworth. I also wrote reviews and catalogue introductions and sat on conference panels and selection committees.

I currently tutor students in art history and visual studies on B.A. and M.A. courses.
